The Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar was born on 26 May 1983. His birthplace is village Baprola in Delhi, India. As of now, his age is 38 years. His height is 166cm, which is 5ft 5in. His Nationality is Indian and is the only Indian wrestler who had won two medals for India in the history of Olympics. He has been married to Savi Kumar since 2011. Savi Kumar is an Indian former tennis player. She played tennis at the national level too.

He has won a second and third medal in the Olympic games. He has won the first medal in the world championships. He has won the third medal in the Asian Games. He has won the first medal three times in the commonwealth games. He has won the first medal once, the second medal, and the third medal twice in the Asian championships. In a nutshell, he has won the first medal five times, the second medal twice, and the third medal four times.

About his career

Sushil Kumar started his training at the age of just 14. He used to do pehlwani at the Chhatrasal Stadium’s Akhada. Firstly, if we talk about the coaches, Yashvir and Ramphal trained him at the Akhada. Later, he was trained by the coach Satpal Singh, an Arjuna Awardee. Then he was trained by Rajkumar Baisla Gurjar and Gyan Singh at the Indian railways camp.

Kumar achieved his first success at the World Cadet Games in 1998. There he won the gold medal in his category of weight. This success came at him when he switched to freestyle wrestling. After that, in the year 2000, he won the gold medal at the championship of Asian Junior Wrestling.

Further, in 2003, he won the gold medal at the commonwealth wrestling championships and the bronze medal at the Asian wrestling championships.

In 2005 and 2007, he won the gold medals at the Commonwealth wrestling championships. In the Olympic games of 2008, which was held in Beijing, he won the bronze medal. Then in the summer Olympics of 2012, he won a silver medal, and he became the first person to achieve or win two medals of Olympics for independent India.

In the year 2006, Sushil Kumar was awarded the Arjuna Award. Then he received a coveted Padma Shree in 2011 by the Government of India.

No doubt Sushil kumar is one of the finest wrestler for India,but Never take anything for granted as life and destiny has written some different  things for us.One night also changes the whole circumstances for Sushil kumar when he was found to be involved in a murder case of a young junior wrestling champion a 23 year old sagar dhankar.

According to the reports there was a tension over a flat rent in which sagar dhankar was living and was owned by Sushil kumar’s wife. Later it was revealed by the CCTV camera where the the two times olympic champion and his friends found beating sagar dhankar and his collagues with sticks,the incident took place on 4 May 2021 at Delhi’s chhatrasal stadium when Police reached there after the incident sagar dhankar was badly injured and died during the treatement.Kumar was arrested after the footage found by the police and is still in judicial custody since then.
